Rockford Woman Charged in Local Bank Robbery

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of JENNIFER B. LAMOUNTAIN, age 26, of Rockford, Illinois. LAMOUNTAIN was taken into custody by the FBI, earlier today, and was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery.

The complaint alleges that LAMOUNTAIN robbed the TCF Bank branch, located at 9343 West Irving Park Road in Schiller Park, Illinois on Saturday afternoon. According to witnesses, LAMOUNTAIN entered the bank and approached a teller, handing her a note announcing a robbery and demanding money. In her note, LAMOUNTAIN claimed that she was armed and displayed a handgun, which was later determined to be a pellet gun.

LAMOUNTAIN fled the bank and entered a nearby vehicle, which she used to escape the area. The vehicle was spotted by a responding Schiller Park Police Officer, who gave chase. Additional Officers from Schiller Park and River Forest joined in the chase, which lasted for several minutes and covered nearly three miles. LAMOUNTAIN failed to stop and attempted to elude pursuing officers. The chase ended when LAMOUNTAIN crashed her vehicle into another car in River Forest.

LAMOUNTAIN was arrested by local authorities following the chase, and was held by them until this morning. In making this announcement, SAC Kneir wants to commend the Schiller Park and River Forest Police Departments for their invaluable assistance in this investigation and arrest.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
