Serial Bank Robber Strikes Again

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for the public's help in identifying an individual suspected of robbing at lease 11 north suburban banks during the past 20 months. Dubbed the "Choir Boy Robber" because of his demeanor, this individual is described as a white/male, 25-30 years of age, 5'9" - 6'0" tall, thin build, clean shaven with dark hair.

In the most recent robbery, which occurred on Friday, August 3rd, an undetermined amount of cash was taken from the Northview Bank and Trust, 1110 West Maple in Libertyville. As in his prior thefts, the "Choir Boy Robber" entered the bank and approached a teller, handing her a note announcing a robbery and demanding money. Although his note implied that he was armed, no weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported. The robber fled the bank on foot, last direction of travel not observed.

The FBI is investigating these robberies with the assistance of local police. Anyone recognizing this individual or having information about any of these robberies is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333.

A listing of additional robberies which the "Choir Boy Robber" is suspected of committing is attached. Copies of bank surveillance photographs and composite sketches of the robber are available from the Chicago FBI Press Office, (312) 786-2645.
