August 23, 2001 Bank Robbers Sought Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for the public's help in identifying the individuals believed responsible for the August 21st robbery of the TCF Bank branch, located at 3940 East 106th Street in Chicago. The TCF branch, which is located inside a Jewel Food Store, was robbed of an as yet undetermined amount of cash by two robbers at approximately noon yesterday. Robber #1 is described as a black/male, 20-25 years of age, 5'5" tall, medium build, wearing a black baseball type cap and a dark plaid shirt. Robber #2 is described as a black/male, 40 years of age, 5'7" tall, medium build, with a light beard, who was dressed in dark pants and T-shirt. According to witnesses, Robber #1 approached a teller and orally demanded cash while Robber #2 stood nearby, apparently acting as a lookout. Although bank employees were threatened by Robber #1, no weapons were displayed and no injuries were reported. After receiving cash from the teller, both robbers fled the store and entered a black mid-size auto, make and model not determined, which was last seen westbound on 106th Street. This robbery is being investigated jointly by the Chicago Police Department and the FBI. Anyone recognizing either of the individuals depicted in the attached bank surveillance photographs of having information about this robbery is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333. Additional copies of the bank surveillance photographs can be obtained from the FBI Press Office at (312) 786-2645. |
