Carol Stream Man Charged in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today the arrest of JAMES W. TAYLOR, age 36, of Carol Stream, Illinois. TAYLOR was arrested by FBI agents, late Friday evening, at a Carol Stream motel, for allegedly hiring an individual to murder his ex-wife.

The arrest of TAYLOR was the culmination of a three-week investigation by the FBI into allegations that TAYLOR was actively seeking someone to murder his ex-wife, Dyann Taylor of Naperville, Illinois. The charges filed in this case allege that the plot to murder Ms. Taylor was the result of a dispute over custody of their two minor children, ages 6 and 4.

On Saturday, TAYLOR was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with violation of the Federal murder-for-hire statute, Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 1958. TAYLOR was ordered held without bond, pending his next scheduled court appearance.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
