April 18, 2001 North Side Robber Strikes Again Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that the FBI is investigating the robbery, late yesterday afternoon, of the World Savings Bank, 2289 Howard Street in Evanston. Preliminary investigation indicates that this robbery was committed by an individual known only as the "North Side Robber." Yesterday's robbery occurred at approximately 4:00 P.M. when the robber, described by witnesses as a white/male, 25-30 years of age, 5'10" - 6' tall, medium build with dark hair and a mustache, approached a teller and handed her a note demanding money. After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the robber fled the bank on foot, last seen running East on Howard. No weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported. This same individual is also suspected of the December 7, 2000 robbery of the First National Bank of Wheaton, 7757 West Devon in Chicago; the March 21, 2001 robbery of the LaSalle Bank branch, 4738 North Cumberland in Chicago; and the March 22, 2001 robbery of the TCF Bank branch, 7759 North Milwaukee Avenue in Niles.
