Three Arrested in Woodridge Bank Robbery

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Geoff Korous, Chief of the Woodridge, Illinois Police Department announced today the arrest of PRINCETON DAVIS, age 19, of 112 47th Avenue in Bellwood; LAUREN BAKER, age 19, of 472 Orchard in Bolingbrook and SASHA ROBINSON, age 19, of Bay City, Michigan. DAVIS, BAKER and ROBINSON were arrested earlier today by Officers of the Woodridge Police Department, following a three mile vehicle chase through the western suburbs.

DAVIS, BAKER and ROBINSON are suspected of robbing the Charter One Bank branch, located at 7460 Woodward Avenue in Woodridge, of an as yet, undetermined amount of money. According to witnesses, DAVIS and BAKER entered the bank shortly before noon, approached a teller and handed her a note announcing a robbery and demanding money. Although the note implied that they were armed, no weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported during the robbery.

After obtaining cash from the teller's drawer, DAVIS and BAKER fled the bank into a waiting vehicle that was driven by ROBINSON. Alert bank employees obtained a description of the vehicle and immediately notified the Woodridge Police Department of the robbery. Officers responding to the bank observed the vehicle and gave chase, pursuing the robbers north on Interstate Highway 355. The chase ended after the vehicle exited I-355 at Maple Avenue and was involved in a minor accident several blocks east at the intersection of Maple and Dunham in Downers Grove. DAVIS, BAKER and ROBINSON were taken into custody, as were two other passengers of the vehicle. Officers from the Downers Grove Police Department assisted with the arrests. No serious injuries were reported following the crash.

DAVIS, BAKER and ROBINSON have been turned over to the FBI and will be charged in a criminal complaint filed later today in U.S. District Court in Chicago, with one count each of Bank Robbery. Investigation by the FBI and Woodridge Police is continuing in an effort to determine if any of the two passengers taken into custody were also involved in the theft. If convicted of bank robbery, DAVIS, BAKER and ROBINSON could face up tp 20 years incarceration.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
