"Dapper Dan Bandit" Sought

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying an individual dubbed the "Dabber Dan Bandit" for his exquisite attire. He is believed to be responsible for four (4) bank robberies in the Chicagoland area over the past four (4) months.

The latest robbery occurred on the morning of March 5, 2002 at the MB Financial Bank located at 401 N. LaGrange Rd. in LaGrange, Illinois. According to witnesses, the robber entered the bank, approached a teller and displayed a silver/chrome revolver. The robber than gave the teller a note that demanded money from the teller drawer. Upon receiving the currency, the robber fled the bank on foot.

The robber is described as a black/male, 5'11"-6' tall, medium build, 30-40 years of age, with dark skin. In this latest robbery he was described as wearing black leather gloves, a knee length black leather coat, and brown trousers.

The "Dapper Dan Bandit" is believed to also be responsible for December 31, 2001 robbery of the Charter One located at 400 S. LaSalle in Chicago; the February 8, 2002 robbery of the First National Bank located at 2100 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Broadview and the February 22, 2002 robbery of the Fifth Third Bank, located at 840 S. Oak Park in Oak Park.
