Suspect Sought in North Community Bank Robbery

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual responsible for the March 9th robbery of the North Community Bank branch, located at 5342 North Broadway in Chicago.

According to witnesses, a lone robber entered the bank at approximately 2:20 PM. He approached a teller and handed her a note announcing a robbery and demanding money. The note threatened the teller with physical harm if she failed to comply with his demand. The robber also displayed a handgun, which was tucked into the waistband of his pants. After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the robber fled on foot, last direction of travel not observed.

The robber is described as a black/male, 30-35 years of age, 5'9" tall, stocky build with a mustache and beard. He was wearing a black zippered coat, mirrored sunglasses with gold rims and a black ski cap.
