Ohio Fugitive/Chicago Bank Robber Arrested

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of JAMIE P. BUTLER, age 28, of Toledo, Ohio. BUTLER was taken into custody by FBI Agents yesterday morning, after being arrested by the Chicago Police Department, late Sunday.

BUTLER was charged in a criminal complaint filed yesterday in U.S. District Court in Chicago, with the February 22nd robbery of the North Community Bank branch located at 1555 North Damen Avenue in Chicago. According to the complaint, BUTLER entered the bank, approached a teller and demanded money. BUTLER was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun, which he used to threaten bank employees. BUTLER fled the bank of foot with after obtaining approximately $2700 in cash.

BUTLER appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward Bobrick, late yesterday, at which time he was ordered held without bond.

BUTLER is also wanted by the Toledo, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky Police Departments for robbery and the FBI in Cleveland, Ohio for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP).

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
