Search for Serial Robber Continues

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual depicted in the attached photograph, who is believed responsible for the robbery of at least two Chicago banks since July 6th.

Dubbed the "South Side Robber", he is suspected of involvement in the July 6th robbery of a Citibank branch located at 8650 South Stoney Island and the July 13th robbery of a Bank One branch, located at 122 West 79th Street, both on the city's south side. Both robberies occurred on Saturday mornings.

The suspect is described by witnesses as a black/male, 40-45 years of age, 5'6" - 5'8" tall, heavy build, with a shaved or bald head. On both occasions, he handed a note to the teller demanding money. During the first robbery, he implied that he was armed, though no weapon was displayed. A silver colored handgun, make and model not determined, was used to threaten the teller during the second robbery. To date, no injuries have been reported.

Anyone recognizing this individual or having information about either of these robberies is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Additional copies of the attached photo are available from the Chicago FBI Press Office, either by courier or E-mail, at (312) 786-2645.
