"Clark Street Robber" Strikes Again

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Terry G. Hillard, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) are asking for the public's help in identifying the individual dubbed the "Clark Street Robber". He has been dubbed the "Clark Street Robber" for robbing banks on or around Clark Street.

"Clark Street Robber" struck again yesterday afternoon, robbing the First American Bank, located at 356 W. Armitage of an undetermined amount of money. After entering the bank, the robber approached a teller handing her a note demanding money from her drawer. Upon receiving the currency, the "Clark Street Robber" fled the bank. As in the past, investigators believe that he fled the scene in a vehicle, though none has been observed by witnesses.

The "Clark Street Robber" is now suspected in the robbery or attempted robbery of five (5) banks during the past week. In addition to yesterday's theft he is believed to be responsible for the August 15th robbery of the North Community Bank branch, located at 2335 North Clark, the August 13th robbery of the Charter Bank branch, located at 1201 North Clark, and the August 12th robbery of the TCF Bank branch located at 1212 North Clark. This individual is also believed to be responsible for the attempted robbery of the Bank One branch, located at 3032 North Clark on August 12th.

Witnesses have described the "Clark Street Robber" as a black/male, 30-35 years of age, 5'8"-6'0" tall, thin build, black hair, brown eyes with a thin mustache. In several of the robberies the "Clark Street Robber" has implied he was armed, but no weapons have been displayed and no injuries have been reported in any of incidents.

Anyone having information about any of these robberies is asked to call the FBI at (312)431-1333.
