Bolingbrook Bank Robber Arrested

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Kenneth H. Each, Chief of the Bolingbrook Police Department announced today the arrest of NIMROD SANDERS, age 29, of 322 Woodcreek Drive in Bolingbrook, IL.

SANDERS was arrested without incident by officers of the Bolingbrook Police Department on July 26th after he robbed the Central Illinois Bank located at 333 N. Quadrangle Drive in Bolingbrook. SANDERS entered the bank at approximately 1:25p.m, approached a teller and handed the teller a note that demanded money. SANDERS also displayed a grip to a pistol and threatened to kill the victim teller if she did not comply with his demands. The teller quickly removed money from the teller drawer and handed it to SANDERS. Upon receiving the currency, SANDERS fled the bank on foot.

Shortly following the robbery, Bolingbrook police heard a description of SANDERS and the approximate direction SANDERS had traveled over a law enforcement radio broadcast. Minutes after hearing the broadcast, Bolingbrook Police Officers spotted SANDERS step out from behind a tree at a nearby apartment complex and apprehended him. SANDERS was later placed into FBI custody.

SANDERS was formally charged today in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sidney I. Schenkier and was ordered held without bond until his next scheduled court appearance.

SAC Kneir would like to commend the Bolingbrook Police Department on their quick and diligent work in apprehending MR.SANDERS immediately following the bank robbery.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
