BROOKE L. HART

Brooke L. Hart, born on June 11, 1911, at San Jose, California. Hart, a graduate of Santa Clara University, was kidnaped in San Jose, California. A $ 40,000.00 ransom call was received at the home of the victims father, Alexander J. Hart, on November 9, 1933. Hart was kidnaped while on the way home from the Department Store operated by his Father and himself. John M. Holmes and Thomas H Thurmond were arrested for the kidnaping and murder. They advised that Hart's body had been dumped into the San Francisco Bay from the San Mateo Bridge after they robbed him, wrapped him in wire and weighted down the body before they dumped him. Both Thurmond and Holmes were taken by a mob at midnight on November 27, 1933, and lynched for the kidnaping and killing of Hart. The body of Brooke L. Hart was recovered near the San Mateo Bridge on November 26, 1933.
