Charles "Sonny" Liston was born on May 8, 1932, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the boxing heavyweight champion on February 25, 1964, when he lost to Cassius Clay, also known as Mohammad Ali. The match took place in Miami Beach, Florida. He was in the Missouri penitentiary in 1950, when he learned to box.
