MILWAUKEE MURDER SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today the arrests of MARIA MENTING, age 27, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and SPENCER A. BROWN, age 28, of Chicago, Illinois. Both MENTING and BROWN were arrested earlier today by members of the Chicago FBI's Fugitive Task Force, without incident, at 8827 S. Muskegon, Chicago, Illinois.

MENTING and BROWN are wanted by the Milwaukee Police Department in connection with the murder of Ahmed Alaam which took place on September 2, 2000 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. MENTING and BROWN are being held at the Cook County jail, pending extradition to Wisconsin.

The FBI's Fugitive Task Force is comprised of Chicago Police Detectives, Cook County Deputy Sheriff's, Deputy U.S. Marshals, and Special Agents of the U.S. Secret Service. Including MENTING'S and BROWN'S arrests, the Task Force has arrested 159 individuals so far this year.
