Winnetka Bank Robber Arrested

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and William J. Gallagher, Chief of the Winnetka Police Department, announced today the arrest of TIFFANY S. CAMPBELL, age 25, of 8046 South Pulaski, Chicago, Illinois. CAMPBELL was arrested earlier today by officers of the Winnetka Police Department, following a seven (7) mile chase which ended in Evanston, Illinois.

At approximately 1:30 P.M., Winnetka officers were responding to a robbery alarm at the First Bank and Trust, 100 Green Bay Road in Winnetka, when they spotted CAMPBELL'S vehicle headed southbound on Green Bay Road. Both CAMPBELL and her vehicle matched descriptions given by witnesses to the robbery, which had just occurred.

According to witnesses, an individual believed to be CAMPBELL entered the bank and approached a teller, handing her a note which announced a robbery. The note implied that she was armed, though no weapon was displayed. After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash, the robber fled the bank and left the area in a vehicle, which had been parked in the bank's parking lot.

No injuries were reported. The FBI and Winnetka Police are continuing their investigation. CAMPBELL was turned over to the FBI and will be charged in a criminal complaint filed tomorrow in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
