Pennsylvania Man Arrested for Sexual Exploitation of Minor

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Michael F. Sheahan, Sheriff of Cook County, announced today the arrest of JERALD LEE ROSE, age 50, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. ROSE was arrested last night by FBI Agents and Cook County Sheriff's Police Officers, without incident, at Sayre Park on Chicago's Northwest side.

ROSE was arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor after traveling to Chicago from Pennsylvania, earlier in the day, to have sexual relations with a thirteen (13) year old female that he had meet over the Internet. In fact, the individual that he had met on-line was an investigator with the Cook County Sheriff's Child Exploitation Unit, who had first corresponded with ROSE one day prior to his arrest.

ROSE will be charged in a criminal complaint filed later today in U.S. District Court in Chicago, with one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Rose will appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sidney Schenkier this afternoon.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
