NEBRASKA MAN ARRESTED IN INTERNET SEX STING

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today the arrest of JOSEPH M. TROOST, age 27, of OMAHA, NEBRASKA. TROOST was arrested yesterday afternoon, without incident, by FBI agents and officers of the Orland Park Police Department, Internet Crimes Unit, at a hotel in Orland Hills, Illinois.

TROOST has been charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with sexual exploitation of a minor . TROOST is alleged to have traveled to Chicago to have sexual relations with a minor female that he met over the Internet. This individual was in fact an Orland Park Police Officer assigned to their Internet Crimes Unit. TROOST is currently being held in the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in Chicago, until his next court appearance.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all suspects in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
