Two Brothers Arrested; Charged With Theft And Witness Intimidation

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of DANIEL A. GENTILE, age 37, of Lockport, Illinois and DAVID D. GENTILE, age 32, of Plainfield, Illinois.

DANIEL GENTILE was arrested at his residence by FBI agents, without incident, on Thursday evening, December 22, 2000. GENTILE was taken into custody following a search of his home, during which over $750,000 in VHS movies, computer games, DVD's and music CD's were discovered. All of the recovered items were part of an interstate shipment that was reported stolen from Best Buy Corporation on November 24, 2000.

DANIEL GENTILE was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago on December 23rd, with 1 count of Theft From Interstate Shipment. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward Bobrick, later that day, and was released on bond.

Earlier today, DAVID GENTILE was arrested at his residence by FBI Agents, without incident, for witness intimidation. DAVID GENTILE was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court with Threatening a Federal Witness. In this complaint, it is alleged that he threatened with physical harm, the family of a witness against his brother. DAVID GENTILE appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Geraldine Saot Brown, who order him held without bond, pending his next scheduled court appearance.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
