SAC McChesney Opposes Clemency for Peltier

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has joined FBI Director Louis Freeh and a growing number of law enforcement officials from across the country, in urging President Clinton not to grant executive clemency to Leonard Peltier.

Convicted for the 1975 murder of two FBI Agents, Peltier is serving two consecutive life sentences. Peltier is attempting to secure a clemency order from the President, before he leaves office in January.

Copies of a letter sent to the President by Director Freeh and a letter sent to members of the Illinois Congressional delegation by SAC McChesney are enclosed. For additional information on this matter or to schedule an interview with SAC McChesney, contact the Chicago FBI Public Affairs office at (312) 786-2645.
