Universal School Selected for Chicago FBI's Adopt-A-School Program

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that Universal School, located at 7350 West 93rd Street in Bridgeview, Illinois, has been selected as the 2003 participant in the FBI's Adopt-A-School program.

As part of the FBI's Community Outreach Program, the Adopt-A-School initiative is designed to provide positive law enforcement role models to students, encouraging them to excel in their academic studies, build self-esteem, and teach them how to abstain from crime, drugs, gangs and violence. The 10 week program will be taught by Special Agents assigned to the FBI's Chicago office and will conclude with a graduation ceremony on December 16th, for those students who successfully complete the course.

The Universal School is a private institution with enrollment in excess of 600 students in grades Kindergarten through High School, a majority of which are Arab-American. In making this announcement, Mr. Kneir said, "We are excited to have the opportunity to work with members of the Arab-American community in this positive environment. We hope that this will be an enlightening experience for both students and teachers alike."

The James Ward and Florence B. Price elementary schools, both part of the Chicago Public School system, are prior participants in the Chicago FBI's Adopt-A-School program.
