Wisconsin Man Arrested for Sexual Exploitation of Minor

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of DANIEL E. VON LOH, age 45, of Madison, Wisconsin. VON LOH was arrested earlier today, without incident, by FBI Special Agents in Madison.

VON LOH was charged in a criminal complaint filed yesterday in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of "Interstate Travel for the Purpose of Engaging in Illicit Sexual Conduct with a Minor", which is a felony offense. According to the complaint, VON LOH traveled from his residence in Madison on Friday, November 14th, to the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where he picked-up a minor female that he had meet on-line, several months earlier. After their initial meeting, VON LOH continued the relationship, both on-line and by telephone, eventually convincing the minor female to meet him in person. After picking-up the minor female, VON LOH is alleged to have taken the girl to a nearby hotel, where he engaged in repeated acts of sexual intercourse with her over the weekend. She was returned by VON LOH to her residence, late Saturday evening, where local police were waiting, having responded to a missing person report filed by the girl's parents.

VON LOH is scheduled to appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Madison, later today, at which time he will be formally charged. The government will seek to have VON LOH removed to Chicago to stand trial. If convicted of the charge against him, VON LOT faces a possible sentence of up to 15 years incarceration.

This case was investigated by the FBI's Innocent Images Task Force, which is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Inspectors from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and Detectives from the Cook County Sheriff's Police and Palos Heights, Illinois Police Departments.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

EDITOR's NOTE: A copy of the complaint filed against VON LOH is available from the Chicago FBI Press Office at (312) 786-2645.
