Reward Offered for Serial Bank Robber

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the FBI for information leading to the identification and arrest of the "All-Star Robber", who is depicted in the attached bank surveillance photograph.

Dubbed the All-Star Robber for his use of caps from various Major League Baseball teams, this individual is believed responsible for the robbery of as many as six Chicago banks in the past 8 weeks. The most recent theft occurred on Wednesday, July 17th, when the Citibank branch located at 539 North Michigan Avenue was robbed of an undetermined amount of money. According to witnesses, the robber entered the bank and approached a teller. After displaying a weapon, he demanded money from her cash drawer. He then fled the bank on foot, last direction of travel not observed.

The All-Star robber is described as a black/male, 30-35 years of age, 6 feet tall, medium build, bald with a slight growth of facial hair on his chin. A second individual, believed to be an accomplice in some of the robberies and also depicted in the attached photos, is also wanted. He is described as a black/male, 30-35 years of age, 6 feet tall, heavy build.

Although the "All-Star" robber has been armed and threatened the use of a weapon in each of his past robberies, no injuries have thus far been reported.

Anyone recognizing either of the individuals depicted in the attached photographs or having any information regarding any of these robberies, is asked to call the Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) at (312) 431-1333.

EDITOR's NOTE: Additional copies of the attached bank surveillance photos are available from the Chicago FBI Press Office, either by courier or e-mail, at (312) 786-2645.
