December 29, 2003 Assistant Special Agent in Charge Assumes new Post Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrival of Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Arthur L. "Tommy" Everett. Mr. Everett, age 48, was appointed to this position by FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, earlier this year. As an Assistant Special Agent in Charge, one of five such positions in the Chicago Field Office, Mr. Everett will have responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the counter-intelligence and cyber-crimes programs, two of the highest priority investigative programs in the FBI. A 13-year veteran of the FBI, Mr. Everett was previously assigned to FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. , where he held a supervisory position in the Criminal Division. He has also served in the FBI's Los Angeles and Portland offices, where he investigated a variety of criminal offenses. In making this announcement, Mr. Kneir said, "Tommy brings a wealth of investigative and management experience to this critical position. He will be a valuable addition to the FBI's Chicago Office and the law enforcement community of Northern Illinois." A Florida native, Mr. Everett holds an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Tuskegee University in Alabama and Masters degrees in both Human Relations and Management from Webster University in Missouri. Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Everett served for 10 years in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain. Upon assuming this position, Mr. Everett will be the highest ranking minority in the FBI's Chicago Field Office.
