Lyons Man Arrested for Distribution of Child Pornography

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of GLENN L. LANGE, age 39, of 8147 West 45th Street in Lyons, Illinois. LANGE was arrested at his residence yesterday morning, without incident, by Special Agents assigned to the FBI's Innocent Images Task Force (IITF).

LANGE was charged in a criminal complaint filed yesterday in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of Interstate Distribution of Child Pornography, which is a felony offense. According to the complaint, it is alleged that LANGE sent at least six separate e-mails containing images of child pornography and child erotica to an undercover FBI Special Agent in Buffalo, New York, during December of 2002. A search of LANGE's residence was also conducted, with numerous items including a personal computer recovered.

LANGE appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Geraldine Soat Brown yesterday afternoon, at which time he was formally charged and ordered held without bond, pending his next scheduled court appearance. If convicted of the charge against him, LANGE faces a possible sentence of up to 15 years incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000.

Established in 1995, the Innocent Images Task Force is an FBI led, nationwide effort to investigate the on-line distribution of child pornography.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

EDITOR's NOTE: A copy of the complaint filed against LANGE is available from the Chicago FBI Press Office at (312) 786-2645.
