Reward Offered in TCF Bank Robberies

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual depicted in the attached photograph, who is believed responsible for the robbery last week of two TCF Bank branches.

Described by witnesses as a black/male, approximately 30 years of age, 5'10" - 6' tall with a thin build, this individual is believed responsible for the April 22nd robbery of the TCF Bank branch located at 1156 Maple Avenue in Lisle and the April 24th robbery of the TCF Bank branch located at 7201 West 24th Street in North Riverside. On both occasions, the robber entered the bank and approached a teller handing her a note announcing a robbery and demanding money. His notes implied that he was armed and threatened the tellers with harm if his demands were not met. However, no weapons were displayed and no injuries were reported in either theft.

In response to these robberies, TCF Bank has offered a reward of up to $10,000 for any information leading to the identification, arrest or conviction of this individual. Additional information about the reward offer is available from TCF Banks at (630) 986-7057.

Anyone recognizing this individual or having any information about either of these robberies is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333.

EDITOR's NOTE: Additional copies of the attached bank surveillance photograph are available from the Chicago FBI Press Office, either by e-mail of courier, at (312) 786-2645.
