The
NOAA Corps is the commissioned officer corps of the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
If
you are interested in a career incorporating both science and service
to the nation, you will find a unique opportunity within the smallest
of the seven uniformed services.
The
NOAA Corps is an integral part of NOAA and commissions officer candidates
with science and engineering backgrounds. A typical officer's career
is spent in a broad variety of assignments, often outside their
academic field. NOAA Corps officers operate ships, fly aircraft,
lead mobile field parties, conduct diving operations, manage research
projects, and serve in staff positions throughout NOAA. Sea duty
is a common thread among the men and women of the NOAA Corps. There
is a two-year service obligation after successful completion of
a Basic Officer Training Class (BOTC).
