Privacy & Security

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) supports the protection of consumer privacy on the Internet and the principles of disclosure and fair information practices. We are strongly committed to protecting your privacy online.

We do not monitor individual traffic patterns on our site. We collect only information on aggregate behavior. The following information is collected and stored automatically:

  • Internet domains (e.g., aol.com or company.com)
  • Internet protocol (IP) addresses (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to any computer connected to the Internet)
  • Browser type, operating system, and connection speed
  • Date and time
  • Pages requested

We use this information to develop future site content that is based on the interests of users. We do not track the usage patterns of individual users at any time, and we do not collect personal information about you unless you choose to provide that information.

Use of Cookies

Cookies are bits of information that are stored on your computer when you visit a Web site. When you visit the PSN Web site, a temporary cookie is placed on your machine (if your computer accepts session cookies). This cookie does not contain personal information and is removed when you leave the site.

Joining Online

When you sign up to become part of the online PSN network, we gather specific information needed to contact you about your interest in joining. We may also use that information to provide you with updates and other material about PSN-related opportunities.

Receiving Project Safe Neighborhoods Updates

When you subscribe to e-mail updates, we use your e-mail address to send you regular PSN updates. We will also contact you with recent news about PSN sites. You may unsubscribe to any of our electronic newsletters at any time by following the instructions at the end of each newsletter.

Opting Out and Modifying Information

You may opt out of receiving further communications from us when you receive e-mail updates. You may also contact us at any time and request that we remove your information from our database and/or stop distribution of future e-mail updates. You may unsubscribe to any of our electronic notices at any time by following the instructions at the end of each e-mail message.

Links to Other Sites

Our site contains links to other Web sites and servers. PSN is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those sites.

Children's Guidelines

We strive to meet industry guidelines that promote fair information practices and protect children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under age 13, nor do we entice children—through the prospect of games, prizes, or activities—to divulge information. PSN encourages parents to participate actively in their children's Internet experience.

Our Web site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of information under our control. Unauthorized use, tampering with, or modification of this system—or its supporting hardware or software—may violate federal or other statutes. Violators will be subject to criminal and civil penalties. In the event of an unauthorized intrusion, all relevant information regarding the violation may be provided to law enforcement officials.

We reserve the right to change this statement at any time. This privacy policy is not intended to create, nor does create, legal rights for, or a contractual agreement with, any party.
