Citizenship Requirements

Employees of the United States Courts must be citizens of the United States or citizens of countries with treaty relations with the United States, as defined by the United States Department of State, and confirmed by the Administrative Office of the U. S. Courts. Non-citizen applicants must possess valid and unexpired immigration and work status documents.

Applying for a Position

The Human Resources Office accepts applications or resumes only for announced vacancies. Please view our current Vacancies online or telephone the 24-hour Jobline at (305) 523-5288 for an automated telephone listing.

Each Notice of Vacancy includes specific qualification requirements for the position and directions on how to apply for each position. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications as stated in the announcement. Unfortunately, interviews cannot be offered to all applicants. Applicants will be notified when the position has been filled.

 

Application Information

Judiciary Application: The AO78 Federal Application is the preferred method of applying for a position with the Court. Applicants may also submit a detailed resume, including recent salary history. Be sure to review any other specified application requirements on the Notice of Vacancy.

AO78 PDF* is fillable, but cannot routinely be saved for email purposes.
AO78 WordPerfect may be saved and sent via email.

Applicants for Magistrate Judge positions must use the official "Application Form for Magistrate Judge" provided below in both WordPerfect and PDF file formats. Please follow the additional instructions provided in the applicable Public Notice of Vacancy.

U. S. Probation or U. S. Pretrial Services Officer Applicants: Applicants for these law enforcement positions are requested to use the application provided here*.

Official Court Reporter Applicants: Applicants for an official court reporter position must also include a copy of the Court Reporter Application Addendum with their application for employment. A PDF version is available here* and a WordPerfect version is available here.

In-person or by Mail: Application documents may also be picked up in person from the Human Resources office or requested to be mailed by calling the 24-Hour Jobline at (305) 523-5288.

 

Submitting your Application

Online Application process: Applicants may submit their WordPerfect version AO78 Application or detailed resume, or a PDF version, as a message attachment by the closing date to: FLSD_HRMail@flsd.uscourts.gov

Please indicate the announcement number of the position for which you are applying.

Typing your resume in the "body" of an email message does not present the best format for a hiring manager's review and may not be given consideration.

U. S. Mail process: Applications and resumes forwarded via U. S. Mail must be post-marked by the closing date. Late applications may not be considered. Please indicate the announcement number on the envelope. Mail to:

Relocation/Interview Expenses

Travel costs for applicant interviews and relocation expenses for new employees are not available.
