 PHIN Governance

The CDC Information Council (CIC) has two working groups focused on approving technical and data standards for PHIN. Each working group is comprised of 2 members from each of the following organizations: ASTHO, NACCHO and CDC. These approved standards will conform to HHS requirements and the Federal Health architecture. The CIC ensures that PHIN will support and use the standards identified in the Government's E-Gov activities including GPEA goals. These standards include those identified as part of the Consolidated Health Informatics (CHI) initiative and the Federal Geographic Data Committee standards required by OMB Circular A-16 as well as the Public Health line of business and Public Health Monitoring Sub-function of the Federal Enterprise Architecture Business Reference Model.

For additional information on PHIN standards, please see the PHIN Standards Functions & Specifications v1.2 document.
