This directory is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). DOE developed this directory because many Office of Building Technology, State and Community Program (BTS) programs develop software tools to help researchers, designers, architects, engineers, builders, code officials, and others involved in the building life-cycle to evaluate and rank potential energy-efficiency technologies and renewable energy strategies in new or existing buildings. Many of the 50 tools in the first version (August 1996) were sponsored by DOE at some point in their life-cycle. We welcome new additions to this directory.
