As of October 1, 2002, the Southwest Region Office of the Army’s Installation Management Agency
in San Antonio assumed responsibility for installation support for U.S. soldiers, civilians and family
members stationed in Southwest United States. With military communities based in 20 locations across
the region, the new office oversees all facets of support from child care to force protection, enabling
tactical units in the region to focus on their training, deployments and operations.Establishment of the Installation Management Agency represents the Army’s continued commitment to doing business the best way possible.
