AOML Physical Oceanography Division

Online Data

PhOD is developing a central system to provide interactive, on-demand, access to all PhOD's data archives through the use of commercial software. It will provide simple, uniform access to Phod's data, promote collaborations through more easily shared data, promote new projects and aid data quality control and data exploration.

The primary and secondary goals, which are closely tied to the AOML Database Project, are to provide interactive, on-demand, access to the expendable bathythermograph (xbt) and the drifting-buoy data archives.

Additionally, a number of other projects within PhOD regularly post data on this web site. The following are links to existing online data within PhOD:

Altimeter-derived Products:

Altimeter-derived global estimates and monitoring of the Tropical Cyclone Heat Potential (TCHP) and upper ocean heat content
Near-real time daily fields of sea height anomaly, sea surface temperature, upper layer thickness and integrated vertical temperature (Tropical Cyclone Heat Potential).
Monitoring the North Brazil Current
Daily altimeter-derived maps of sea height anomaly and upper layer thickness used to monitor ring generation and translation in the North Brazil Current.
Intra-Americas Seas Altimetry
Daily altimeter-derived maps of sea heigth anomaly and upper layer thickness for the Intra-Americas Sea.

Drifter Data:

Drifting Buoy Data Assembly Center Products
On line access to global data from lagrangian drifters provided by the Drifting Buoy Data Assembly Center

PALACE Data:

Equatorial Atlantic PALACE Float Trajectories
Trajectories and vertical profiles from PALACE floats released as part of the ACCE project

Sea level and temperature:

East Pacific SST and Sea Level
Measurements from tide and meteorological stations in the East Pacific

XBT Data:

High Density XBT data
Vertical sections of ocean temperature acquired on VOS lines AX7 , AX8 , AX10 and AX18 as part of the High Density XBT project
Low Density XBT data
SEAS Low Density XBT data

Project Oriented Collections of Data:

Florida Bay Data
Hydrography, drifters, current meters, transport, nutrients from the Florida Bay Circulation and Exchange Study
