Eligibility Requirement(s)
A medical degree is required.
Required Activities
Residents take one-month rotations in the Emergency Department at McGee Women's Hospital
and a Women's Psychiatric Unit. Residents are required to rotate through the following
outpatient clinics: Osteoporosis, Colposcopy, Urogynecology, Adolescent Medicine,
Reproductive Endocrinology, Urgent Gynecology, Breast Disease, Menopause, and one month at
the Student Health Center. They serve as medical consultants for obstetrical patients. A
month of mental health was added for outpatients assessments for depression, anxiety,
PTSD, etc.
Elective Activities
The program is structured as a series of electives spread throughout the three years of an
Internal Medicine residency.
Special Degree(s)/Certificate(s) Offered
Residents are board eligible in Internal Medicine.
Goals of the Program
"To increase training in women's health for Internal Medicine residents."
Other Program Features
A monthly journal club allows for in-depth discussion of specific issues related to
women's health.
Reason for Initiating Program
"Women's health was not adequately taught in the categorical Internal Medicine
residency."
