The Importance of SAFECOM for Public Safety

Recent emergencies have demonstrated the importance of coordination among local, tribal, state, and federal public safety
officials at the incident scene.

SAFECOM was established to serve as the umbrella program within the Federal Government, to help local, tribal, state, and federal public safety agencies improve public safety response through more effective and efficient interoperable wireless communications.

Public Safety and Wireless Communications Interoperability
The Statement of Requirements (SoR) for public safety communications and interoperability provides information on base level requirements for a system of interoperable public safety communications across all local, tribal, state, and federal "first responder" communications systems.
