In 1999, George Radanovich and I founded the Congressional Wine Caucus with the idea that Members of Congress could benefit from learning more about the challenges of growing grapes and making wine. Additionally, we felt that people in the grape and wine business would be interested in hearing more about federal regulatory and legislative developments that affected them. Since then, we've held numerous policy briefings and wine receptions on Capitol Hill, and become involved in a wide variety of legislative issues, all with the goal of promoting our incredibly vibrant American wine industry from the vineyard to the wine glass. Please let us know if you find our website helpful or have suggestions to make it better.

Cheers, Mike Thompson

Rep. Dan Newhouse

With hundreds of wineries, several unique AVA’s, and some of the world’s most excellent winemakers, Central Washington is quickly becoming recognized as a powerhouse of winemaking. The wine community has proven to have an enormous, positive economic impact on our economy – both locally in my home district and across the nation. Whether they are made in Washington, California, or anywhere else in the United States, our wines are excellent, and I look forward to working in Congress to ease regulatory burdens and make sure our country’s wine industry continues to flourish.

As a farmer and wine grape grower, I am honored to serve with Mike Thompson as co-chair of the Congressional Wine Caucus. As the community continues to grow, Mike and I will advocate for growers, producers, and sellers, so we can continue to promote their products here and in countries around the world.

Sincerely, Rep. Dan Newhouse signature Dan Newhouse
