Welcome

The Bipartisan Disabilities Caucus (BDC), established during the 107th Congress, exists to educate members of Congress and their staff on the issues affecting Americans with disabilities. We believe that awareness is among the biggest roadblocks to accessibility, so the BDC works to ensure that the House of Representatives is passing laws that consider the specific needs of Americans with disabilities and their families.

An estimated one in five Americans lives with a disability, and disability rights will touch most Americans during their lifetime, whether directly or through a loved one. Advances in technology and public health are allowing people to live longer and survive once-fatal illnesses, and as our population ages, Americans are relying on adaptive devices and accessible communities more than ever before. The BDC is leading the charge to ensure that Americans of all abilities have access to the health care, housing, transportation, employment opportunities, and disability benefits they deserve to live full and meaningful lives.
