Today, the United States House of Representatives passed Rep. Cindy Axne’s (IA-03) bipartisan legislation that will allow rural communities more flexibility in how they use homelessness funding to ensure quality lodging is available for Iowans who have been displaced from their homes. Her bill was included in the Fiscal Year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Madam Speaker, I rise today to ask the House of Representatives to join me in recognizing Said Atmar as Iowan of the Week. Said arrived in Des Moines in 2014 on a Special Immigrant Visa following his military service assisting U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan.
