Meuser Attends "Commitment to America" Rollout

September 23, 2022

Monongahela, PA _ U.S Congressman Dan Meuser (R-09) was on hand with fellow members of the House Republican Conference as Leader Kevin McCarthy, Whip Steve Scalise and Chair of the House Republican Conference Elise Stefanik unveiled the “Commitment to America” today, a comprehensive plan to offer solutions on the economy, safety, freedom, and government accountability and get America back on track.

“As a businessperson, I love having a plan,” Meuser commented on the proposal, which Republicans will implement upon retaking the majority in Congress next year. “It embraces the priories and values of our constituents.”

The plan contains four pillars:

  • An Economy That’s Strong

  • A Nation That’s Safe

  • A Future That’s Built on Freedom

  • A Government That’s Accountable

Meuser said the Americans struggling with the high price of gas, rising costs at the grocery store, and rising crime in their communities, which can be traced to wasteful government spending and failed policies of the Biden Administration. “It’s time to reverse the backwards policies of the Biden administration and put the brakes on massive spending in Washington,” Meuser stated. “We need to unleash American energy production, which will lead to price reduction on many daily expenses for consumers.”

Plans to curtail the influx of illegal border crossings, rampant crime in American cities and an increased investment in the American military are addressed in the safety pillar of the platform. “The situation at the border is an unmitigated disaster,” Meuser emphasized. “Americans want a plan that stems the overwhelming number of individuals who have entered the United States and whose whereabouts then becomes unknown, and addresses the problem of human and drug trafficking, which is rampant, dangerous, and deadly. We also need to give law enforcement the tools they need to do their jobs properly and end the lenient practices of liberal prosecutors. We must address the influx of deadly fentanyl into our country, which is killing our citizens in disturbing numbers.”

Education, health care and privacy from big tech are also part of the plan. A Parents’ Bill of Rights is outlined, focusing on school choice, and addressing the detrimental impact Covid-19 has had on the education of our children. There is an emphasis on quality and affordable prices for health care, with choices for patients and competition to keep prices in check. There are plans for keeping children safe online and making sure the privacy of all is protected.

“Parents in this country need to feel like stakeholders in the education of their children, not adversaries who are criticized when they speak up about important issues in the classroom,” Meuser commented. “Americans need to be able to afford decent health care that is delivered in a way that gives them the ability to receive it from the doctors they trust.”

On the issue of internet privacy and safety, Meuser stated, “There is an increasing concern over what happens to an individual’s personal information online, and the consequences when it falls into the wrong hands. The ability of strangers to prey on the vulnerable, including children, needs to be a concern of all of us, including lawmakers.”

Making Washington more accountable to citizens is the final pillar of the “Commitment to America.” This includes the preservation of free speech, protecting the rights of the unborn, guaranteeing the rights of religious freedom and upholding the Second Amendment. It also calls for holding Washington accountable for actions that have been taken at home and abroad. There is a plan for free and fair elections, and to end proxy voting by lawmakers.

“Americans are increasingly unhappy with the marginalization of their freedoms,” Meuser expressed. “They are concerned about policies they believe have been disastrous around the globe, leaving us vulnerable to the whims of other countries. They want to know that their votes are being counted and that their lawmakers are present in Washington during important proceedings,” he added.
