Legislative Intern - DC

The Office of Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) is seeking to hire a motivated, detail-oriented, current college student or recent graduate wishing to gain Capitol Hill internship experience in an exciting Washington, D.C. office.

Legislative Intern responsibilities include answering phones, researching legislation, attending virtual hearings and briefings, and assisting with constituent correspondence on various issues before the House. Interns will also assist in various administrative tasks as needed. As a result, the intern will learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.

The term of this internship will be from January 2023 – May 2023. There are 2 types of internships, which are listed below.

  • Paid full-time internships: Must work at least 30 hours a week. A competitive stipend will be offered, as well as a monthly transit benefit towards the Metro and Metrobus.

  • For academic credit only (FACO) internship:  Strictly reserved for college students who will earn college credit as a result of their internship. FACO internships are unpaid, and will consist of 20 – 30 hours of work per week.

Typical hours for all internships are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, although hours may be flexible to accommodate students’ hectic course schedules.

District Intern - Baltimore

The Office of Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) is seeking to hire a motivated, detail-oriented, current college student or recent graduate wishing to gain constituent-oriented internship experience in our wonderful District office in Baltimore.

District Intern responsibilities include answering phones, analyzing district casework trends, conducting research, engaging in constituent correspondence, and assisting with special projects at the discretion of the District Director. As a result, the intern will learn about the important functions of our impactful District office.

The term of this internship will be from January 2023 – May 2023. There are 2 types of internships, which are listed below.

  • Paid full-time internships: Must work at least 30 hours a week, and will be provided a competitive stipend.

  • For academic credit only (FACO) internship:  Strictly reserved for college students who will earn college credit as a result of their internship. FACO internships are unpaid, and will consist of 20 – 30 hours of work per week.

Press Intern - DC

The Office of Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) is seeking to hire a motivated, detail-oriented, current college student or recent graduate wishing to gain Capitol Hill internship experience in an exciting Washington, D.C. office.

Press Intern responsibilities include communicating with constituents, generating engaging content for the Member’s official social media pages (including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), designing graphics, drafting eNewsletters, and assisting with various tasks at the discretion of the Communications Team.

The term of this internship will be from January 2023 – May 2023. There are 2 types of internships, which are listed below.

  • Paid full-time internships: Must work at least 30 hours a week. A competitive stipend will be offered, as well as a monthly transit benefit towards the Metro and Metrobus.

  • For academic credit only (FACO) internship:  Strictly reserved for college students who will earn college credit as a result of their internship. FACO internships are unpaid, and will consist of 20 – 30 hours of work per week.
