WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. The NDAA is Congress’ bill to maintain military readiness and increase national security. The legislation includes Rep. Schrier’s amendment to improve child care for families of servicemembers so they can be dependably service-ready. It now heads to the Senate and then the President’s desk to be signed into law.

"A group of lawmakers are calling on the federal government to take immediate action on the landslide risk left behind by the Bolt Creek Fire. The fire has burned more than 14,000 acres, or nearly 22 square miles, near Skykomish. Senator Maria Cantwell and Representatives Suzan Delbene and Kim Schrier are now demanding the U.S. Forest Service to begin post-burn treatments on the fire area immediately. They wrote an open letter saying action needs to be taken now to prevent catastrophic landslides and floods.

WENATCHEE, WA – Today Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) and U.S. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) hosted U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for a celebration of the Apple Capital Loop project in Wenatchee. In June of last year, Rep. Schrier helped to secure a $92 million Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant.

This bipartisan bill will make sure that student parents who are working to get a post-secondary degree, including vocational school and two and four-year universities, are eligible to receive the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC), which helps to offset working families’ child care expenses.

New York (CNN Business)A group of Democrats in Congress is calling on President Joe Biden to keep releasing oil from America's emergency stockpile through at least the end of the year.

In a letter obtained first by CNN, eight House Democrats urged Biden on Friday to immediately scrap his current plan to halt releases from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve next month.
