(Washington, DC) – Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger this week introduced legislation to reimburse victims of food stamp theft – a crime that is on the rise in Maryland and across the country – with already-allocated federal funds. So far this year, Maryland families have reported losing more than $1 million stolen Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) benefits compared to $92,000 in reported losses in 2021.
