WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) is introducing legislation to protect insurance availability for Louisiana homeowners and encourage insurers to continue coverage options after a major disaster.
 
Since the 2020 hurricane season, eight insurance companies with Louisiana policyholders have failed, and at least 12 others have withdrawn from the state.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) is introducing the “Medical Care Equity Act,” which would initiate long-overdue tax code reforms for medical doctors who provide pro-bono health services, resulting in more readily available medical care for Americans without growing government. 
 
The bill would allow doctors to deduct an amount equal to the unreimbursed Medicare-based value of charity medical care during a taxable year.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $26,131,734.90 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in Southwest Louisiana.
 
The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.
