FY23 COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING REQUESTS

Every year, Congress is responsible for allocating funding for offices, programs and grants administered by the federal government. I have the opportunity to advocate on behalf of programs that are important to Florida’s 20th Congressional District.
Following the successful inclusion of Community Project Funding in the FY22 Omnibus Appropriations legislation this year, Congress will once again accept requests for FY2023 for crucial direct funding of local projects led by governmental and not-for-profit entities. This allows Members to put our first-hand understanding of our local communities to work to best help our constituents.
Community Project Funding is a tranche of funding set aside in Congressional appropriations legislation (i.e. annual government funding legislation) for eligible community-based projects at the request of Members of Congress. Members submit requests on behalf of eligible entities to secure direct federal funding for projects that are deemed a good use of taxpayer funds and demonstrate evidence of community support for the project.
As your representative, I intend to fight for the priorities that are most important to our district, and I want to hear directly from you about the projects that receive funding.
Pending further guidance from the House Committee on Appropriations, the deadline for submission will be close of business on April 18th.

Please note that submission of a request does not guarantee funding. Only governmental or not-for-profit entities are eligible fund recipients. Each member of Congress may submit up to 15 requests (up from 10 requests last year). Each project request must be for FY23 funding only and cannot include a request for multiyear funding. Any applicable State or local matching requirements must be addressed/planned for the project to be considered viable. Projects with demonstrated community support and engagement will be most strongly considered. Each request submitted by a Member of Congress on behalf of an eligible entity is subject to review by the Appropriations Committee. Transparency & Public Disclosures:
For each requested project, Members of Congress must certify in writing that neither they nor their immediate family has a financial interest in the requested project. These certifications will be posted on the Committee website no later than 20 days after the submission.
