In honor of Women’s History Month in March, Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva would like to invite middle school students to participate in our annual “Women Who Inspire Me” writing competition.

This competition is for students in grades 6-8 in Congressional District 3. Students are asked to submit an essay or poem recognizing a woman (or women) they admire most and why. It can be any woman who inspires participants, whether they are a historical figure, government official, or member of their family.

Check out some of my favorite essay submissions from this year’s essay contest!

All essays and entry forms must be submitted by March 23, 2022 to Congressman Grijalva’s Tucson District Office located at 101 W. Irvington Road, Bldg. 4 Tucson, AZ 85714 or by email to Cassandra.Becerra@mail.house.gov.

Please see below for the essay requirements:

  • The essay can be about any woman from a historical figure, a government official, your family member or teacher; anyone who inspires you and has made a difference in your life.
  • You must live in Congressional District 3 and be in grades 6-8.
  • Turn in a completed entry form which can be found here.
