Internships
Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez offers internships in her Washington D.C., Santa Fe, and Rio Rancho offices.
Interns will work with staff to serve the constituents of New Mexico's 3rd Congressional district. Our goal is to provide each intern with a meaningful experience that will enhance their understanding of Congress and give them the professional experience they need to further their career. Intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Answering phones
- Sorting mail
- Drafting constituent correspondence
- Assisting with events
- Drafting social media
- Attending briefings and hearings
- Attending meetings with stakeholders
- Administrative work as assigned
Internships in both the D.C. and District offices run throughout the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Interns are able to work on either a part-time or full-time basis.
Full time Interns are compensated with a $1,000 stipend per month unless sponsored by an outside organization. Part-time interns will receive a comparable stipend to their hours worked. Please note, unless an applicant is financially sponsored by an outside organization, House rules state that all paid House of Representative Interns must be United States citizens.
