Broadband

Broadband is basic infrastructure. It’s as necessary now as electricity once was. Internet connections can help doctors consult on patient care, expand education, and open job opportunities. I’m working hard to champion the voices of our rural communities to level the playing field and create opportunities for all Americans.

That is why I voted for the American Rescue Plan at the height of the pandemic. It provided $7.1 billion to reimburse schools and libraries – central points for connectivity in many communities – to purchase equipment such as hotspots, internet service, and computers on behalf of students and patrons, essential for homework when in-person classes resume, as well as for hybrid and remote learning.

I want to make certain our comunidades have the infrastructure they need to access reliable internet. That’s why I voted for the Infrastructure Law that makes necessary investments to ensure all Americans have affordable broadband access to live, work, and stay connected. I pushed for broadband because we know that connectivity is essential for our families to work, learn, and stay healthy. The bill includes $65 billion for broadband so every American has access to reliable broadband, especially rural and low-income families.
