Passport Information

- If you are applying for an expedited passport, it takes 4-6 weeks. There is a $60 charge for expedited passports.

- Normal passport processing time is 7-10 weeks.

- The State Department provides information about the country you will be visiting. The information includes a travel advisory ranking, why the country has that travel advisory, and if there are specific areas of the country experiencing turmoil.

- If you are traveling abroad, our office recommends enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). This allows the state Department to contact Americans who are traveling in a specific country if something goes wrong, i.e. turmoil in the country, if there is an emergency back home and the traveler’s friends or family can’t get a hold of them, or if their family can’t get a hold of them.
