December 8, 2022 Press Release
Today, the United States House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This legislation provides $858 billion for America’s national defense, reversing President Biden’s reckless military cuts, and overturning the Biden Administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate and ending servicemember separations. This NDAA ensures the Department of Defense has the necessary resources to challenge the growing threats from our adversaries and keeping Americans safe.

“Government should never infringe on the constitutional rights of the individual. Ms. Smith and others like her deserve the strongest possible First Amendment protections as they seek to uphold the principles that are central to their lives and faiths. The First Amendment not only protects Americans’ right to speak and express their views, but it also protects their freedom not to speak. A Supreme Court ruling in favor of 303 Creative would mean a victory for free speech and religious freedom everywhere.”

"Denying diplomas to otherwise qualified Midshipmen based solely on COVID-19 vaccination status would not only be a waste of our country's four-year investment in Midshipmen who are eager to serve our nation but could disrupt military readiness in a year that every branch had trouble recruiting," said Congressman Steube. "The U.S. Naval Academy must provide full transparency of their process to deny diplomas due to the absurd COVID-19 vaccination mandate, including details of cases where Midshipmen's religious exemption requests were also denied."

"Now that more information has been released, let us take time to recognize the victims of the tragedy that unfolded this weekend in Colorado Springs, as well as those who acted heroically and saved the lives of others.   Ashley Paugh, Kelly Loving, Raymond Green, Daniel Davis Aston, and Derrick Rump lost their lives during this senseless act of violence, and will be greatly missed. Twenty-five others were injured. And it is hoped they have a speedy recovery.  I am grateful for the swift reaction from members of law enforcement, our first responders, and hospitals.  We all should continue to pray for everyone affected by this horrible situation. Everyone should feel safe in our community. Colorado is a wonderful place to live, and the outpouring of support for the victims' families shows just that."

Congressman Lamborn stated, “When Americans put on the uniform and volunteer to serve our nation, it is important that we honor that commitment and ensure they receive the benefits they have earned. This legislation removes a burdensome tax and will help families who need it most. With inflation rising at an alarming rate, this will give our military families some much-needed relief. I thank Congressman Womack for leading this important effort. I will always fight for those who protect our freedoms.”

Madam Speaker, I ask that my colleagues in Congress join me in celebrating and honoring the life of Henry Allen, Jr., a leader, a believer, a patriot, and a friend to so many.  Henry has surely heard the words spoken in the Gospel of Matthew. “…the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world . . . For I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’” See the Congressional Record here.

“This year, the United Nations will consider resolutions that could finally terminate two anti-Israel United Nations bodies: the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) and the Division of Palestinian Rights (DPR),” said Congressional Israel Allies Caucus Co-Chairman Congressman Doug Lamborn. “These two institutions are uniquely nefarious among UN bodies, serve only to undermine the state of Israel, and undercut constructive pathways to peace. As co-chairs of the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus, Representatives Steve Chabot, Chris Smith, and I encourage the United States to vigorously oppose this reauthorization resolution and invite other nations to do the same.”

“I authored the Taylor Force Act in 2017 to ensure that the humanitarian and economic assistance provided by the United States government was not being used by the Palestinian Authority for its inhumane ‘pay-to-slay’ program,” said Congressman Lamborn. “U.S. tax dollars should never support terrorist regimes that incentivize the murder of innocent people. I am deeply concerned that the Biden Administration has decided to disregard bipartisan consensus condemning this ‘martyr’ payment program and instead continues to knowing provide billions of taxpayer dollars to the Palestinian Authority.”
