Whip Clyburn opened saying, “we all have a shared outrage and common goal – to end the hate-filled violence that is plaguing our nation.”

In remarks during the event Higgins remembered the victims, condemned the “vile, racist act of terror on good innocent people” and called on all “Members of Congress, to do better to fight hate in our world.”

Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty (D-OH) called out those who are supporting and advancing replacement theory asking Members “to stand in unity against this white supremacy conspiracy theory that perpetuates the racist, xenophobic, Islamic, and antisemitic lies.”

Yesterday, Congressman Higgins was among those supporting House approval of the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act, giving communities and law enforcement additional tools to prevent and address incidents like the recent tragedy in Buffalo.
